HÀ NỘI — About 49.9 per cent of the adult population aged 15-65 own digital signatures, with 34.575 million certificates issued for a population of 69.2 million, the Ministry of Science and Technology has said.

The figures were released at the ministry’s regular press briefing on Wednesday, which reviewed the sector’s performance in September.

It was also revealed that the total number of transactions conducted through the National Data Integration and Sharing Platform reached 4.86 billion from its launch in 2020 to September 15, 2026.

Revenue from the digital technology industry in September was estimated at over VNĐ770.7 trillion (US$29.68 billion), up 36 per cent year on year.

The nine-month revenue reached VNĐ5.387 quadrillion, up approximately 32.1 percent year on year, according to the ministry.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Trung Tính said in October, the ministry will focus on completing four bills under the 2026 legislative programme, namely the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Metrology, the amended Law on Postal Services, the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Intellectual Property and the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation.

The ministry will develop a system of national research and testing centres and key national laboratories while continuing restructuring national sci-tech programmes towards more focused resource allocation, with clearer scopes, task selection criteria, management mechanisms and transition arrangements, ensuring that ongoing tasks are not disrupted, he said.

The sector will also address mobile coverage gaps in 273 villages and hamlets and at 209 government offices, educational institutions and public healthcare facilities with no or weak mobile signals, he added. — VNS
