HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Science and Technology is determined to make innovation a development driver for all of society, rather than a task confined to scientists, research institutes or technology enterprises.

The message was delivered by Nguyễn Mai Dương, director of the State Agency for Technology and Innovation at the ministry’s press briefing on Wednesday.

He said the Vietnam Innovation Day 2026 will officially take place on October 3-5 at the National Convention Centre in Hà Nội under the theme 'Innovation - A Development Driver for The Whole of Society'.

The event marks an important shift from developing and disseminating policies and mechanisms to substantive implementation, making innovation a broad-based movement across society, he said.

Elaborating on this year’s message, Dương said the theme has been shaped given the order of Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm that the country must make a strong shift from innovation in selected fields to innovation across society.

“Every citizen is an agent of innovation. Every enterprise must regard innovation as vital to its development. Every public official must maintain a development-oriented mindset," he said.

“Every unit, ministry, sector and locality must become an innovation hub in its respective field, working towards the goal of building a learning society, a creative society and fostering a widespread culture of innovation in the community.” — VNS
