The number of accidents increased by 11 cases compared with that on Friday, the first day of the holiday, but the number of deaths and injuries decreased.

The number of traffic accidents on the National Day holiday this year decreased sharply compared with the same period last year, according to the department. On September 2 last year, the country saw 63 traffic accidents killing 48 people and injuring 75 others.

On Saturday, traffic police across the country fined more than 7,400 people for violating regulations with VNĐ3.3 billion (US$148,800). The police withdrew 191 driving licenses and temporarily detained 44 automobiles and 794 motorbikes. — VNS
