HCM CITY — The new Ghềnh Bridge, a railway bridge connecting Bình Dương Province’s Dĩ An Station and Đồng Nai Province’s Biên Hòa Station, will open on June 26.

With the opening, north-south train services can resume after over three months of disruption.

According to Việt Nam Railways, while trains departing from Sài Gòn will resume services on June 26, two trains from Hà Nội, one from Nha Trang and one from Quảng Ngãi will operate one day earlier.

Việt Nam Railways has also announced new train services for the summer, including five Sài Gòn – Hà Nội – Sài Gòn routes, one Sài Gòn – Vinh – Sài Gòn route, one Sài Gòn – Quảng Ngãi – Sài Gòn route, and one Sài Gòn – Nha Trang – Sài Gòn route.

In addition, due to high demand, the company will launch another seven routes.

From June 26-30, all trains will depart at Sài Gòn Railway Station one hour later than the information printed on tickets since passengers no longer have to take a detour by bus.

The collapse of the old Ghenh Bridge significantly affected traffic on the north-south route, causing a loss of billions of đồng in the first five months of the year. — VNS
