HCM CITY — Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has approved a proposal from the Ministry of Transport and Việt Nam Railway to spend VNĐ298.5 billion (US$13.5 million) to restore Ghềnh Railway Bridge, which collapsed on Sunday after being hit by a barge carrying 800 tonnes of sand on Đồng Nai River.
In a dispatch sent to the ministry and the company, the prime minister agreed to invest in the project urgently.
The government assigned the Ministry of Transport to help the company with investment and be responsible for managing the project.
The approved budget for the bridge restoration will be allocated from the central government budget for 2016.
