HÀ NỘI (VNS) — Thousands of parents in Hà Nội failed to register their children for their five-in-one Pentaxim vaccination on Thursday.

The city’s Centre for Preventive Medicine could meet only one-thirtieth of the total demand for 91,000 vaccination doses.

The registration process on the centre’s website at ytdphanoi.gov.vn -- during the third phase of the serviced vaccination programme this year -- started at 9am on Thursday. The system was soon overloaded with more than 91,000 logins, and automatically shut down after one hour and 28 minutes of recording registrations for the available 3,080 doses. The vaccines comprised 1,880 doses held over from the second phase last month and 1,200 new doses. Those who failed to register their children for the vaccination this time will have to wait for the next registration period.

Children born between March 18, 2014, and January 18, 2016, are eligible for the vaccination. They will be administered the vaccine from today till March 30, except on weekends.

Pentaxim is a five-in-one combination vaccine that protects children against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and polio, as well as Haemophilus influenzae Type B. — VNS
