CẦN THƠ — Cần Thơ City held a training programme on Thursday (August 20) to help women apply science and technology, digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to production and business.

The programme is part of efforts to implement the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57, issued in December 2024, on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

Organised by the Việt Nam Women's Union and the Cần Thơ Women's Union, the programme covered AI and digital technology applications, sales skills, e-commerce, household business registration and tax obligations.

Participants included women seeking to start businesses and those who had left jobs at industrial parks and export processing zones.

The programme aimed to strengthen women's economic autonomy and help them contribute to local socio-economic development in the digital era.

The Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta city has more than 6,210 women-owned businesses, accounting for about 29.6 per cent of the city's total, according to the Cần Thơ Women's Union.

As part of efforts to implement Resolution No. 57, women’s unions at all levels in Cần Thơ have developed models to promote digital transformation and innovation among women.

The city now has more than 224 such models, with over 4,570 participants, helping women improve their digital skills and apply technology to economic activities.

Nguyễn Thị Thùy Linh, Chairwoman of the Cần Thơ Women's Union, said the union has continued to support women through training, capital assistance, product marketing and brand development, helping them expand production and establish businesses and co-operatives. — VNS
