HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam Education Publishing House will release about 204.47 million copies of textbooks, ensuring timely supply to students before August 15 and avoiding a shortage of books for the 2026-2027 school year.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Đoàn Trung Kiên has recently requested the publishing house to review printing, publishing and supplying to ensure textbook quantity for the coming school year as planned.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training had set a target of adequately supplying textbooks before August 20.

Nguyễn Tiến Thanh, chairman of the Board of Members, General Director of Việt Nam Education Publishing House, said that in the 2026-2027 school year plan, the publishing house will release a total of 204.47 million copies of textbooks and 37.32 million copies of exercise books.

This unit has a policy of encouraging issuers to proactively survey market demand, calculate and develop early ordering plans, and improve forecast quality closer to reality.

This helps Việt Nam Education Publishing House have time to plan and organise production, bid for printing services, and transport books, ensuring adequate and timely supply to teachers and students before August 15, avoiding a shortage of books, Thah said.

Việt Nam Education Publishing House requests the Ministry of Education and Training to research and direct departments of education and training to develop feasible plans according to the plan, stabilise the use of textbooks for the 2026-2027 school year and, at the same time, develop a specific plan for the 2027-2028 school year in accordance with regulations so that the publishing house can proactively print and distribute the right number and type of textbooks, avoiding the situation of excess and shortage that cause capital accumulation and waste.

The 2026-2027 school year is the first year the whole country uses a unified set of textbooks, the Connecting Knowledge to Life series, after a period of diverse textbooks with three different sets.

Thanh said that Việt Nam Education Publishing House has reviewed, revised and updated textbook content at the request of the National Appraisal Council and the Ministry of Education and Training to serve the supply of textbooks for the 2026-2027 school year.

Regarding prices, from the 2024-2025 school year until now, the publishing house has reduced the price of textbooks twice, in February 2024 and December 2024.

The unified use of a set of textbooks nationwide will create favourable conditions to reduce production costs and textbook prices in the future. VNS
