ĐÀ NẴNG — Twenty-eight lowland and mountainous areas in the central city have been submerged under floodwaters ranging from 20cm to 2.24m, or face the risk of landslides, as rainfall is forecast to reach 150mm to 300mm on October 29–30.
More than 1,000 households, totalling 3,572 residents in 14 rural mountainous villages, were evacuated from erosion-threatened sites to safe locations on the night of October 27, according to the city’s Storm and Flood Prevention Centre.

Military and public security rescue forces were mobilised to support local communities in areas at high risk of floods and landslides in Trà My and Thượng Đức communes, it said.
A 2km-long crack was found on a mountainside in Trà Vân Commune, while nine eroded sites were identified along main sections of National Roads 40B and 14B.

Floodwater levels in the main rivers have remained above alert level 3, according to the latest report released at 9am on October 28.
A rescue vessel from the city-based Maritime Co-ordination and Rescue Centre No 2 (MRCC2) successfully rescued an ill fisherman from a boat operating 200 nautical miles off the coast of Quy Nhơn.
The centre said the sailor on the Quảng Ngãi-based vessel (QNg 90459TS) received first aid before being taken to Quy Nhơn General Hospital for treatment early on October 28.

MRCC2 also said port authorities in Đà Nẵng and Huế had rescued eight sailors from a cargo ship that sank off the coast of Huế City on October 27.
The vessel, which was carrying 5,900 tonnes of cement, sank due to high waves and heavy rain.
Boats have been used for transport and logistics services among villagers living along the Hoài River banks, where floodwater has remained at 2.2m. VNS
