As the 80th anniversary of the nation’s founding on September 2 draws near, the market is buzzing with patriotic products — from clothing and accessories to food and drink.

Gold and silver items are also riding the wave of national pride.

Phú Quý Jewellery Group has unveiled its iconic five-tael silver bars once more, echoing the popular release from April 30 that marked the 50th anniversary of reunification.

These bars feature intricate engravings of President Hồ Chí Minh’s portrait alongside traditional bronze drum motifs.

“The idea was sparked at the beginning of the year and after receiving such warm support from our customers, we were deeply committed to creating the most beautiful and meaningful product possible,” Nguyễn Khánh Long, from the marketing department of Phú Quý Jewellery Group, told Việt Nam News.

The group chose a symbol model published by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

“When we first received the brief for this product, it was extremely challenging,” said Nguyễn Thanh Huyền, from the group's design team. “Uncle Hồ isn’t just a figure you can simply draw. I had to study him in depth, especially the expression in his eyes, his aura and the unique features of his face to truly capture his spirit. These are not details just anyone can depict."

All 9,999 silver bars were sold out nationwide within just eight hours of launch, to the company’s agencies across the country.

Huyền said they were eagerly anticipating the final product, and when they finally held it in their hands, they were overwhelmed with emotion.

“Beyond the sense of national pride it carries, the result exceeded our expectations, and it felt like a true success,” she said.

Meanwhile, Silver Workshop has introduced a collection of silver rings, bracelets and earrings themed on nationalism.

The items are engraved with the national flag and map.

“This all stems from a deep sense of patriotism,” said Bùi Thanh Hà, owner of the brand name. “Vietnamese youth and not just the youth, but people of all ages, possess a strong and abundant national spirit.”

Each day, the workshop sells hundreds of these items nationwide.

“When we sent the design for casting, the proportions were already precise,” said Phạm Văn Tuấn, a goldsmith at the workshop. “But for the finer details, the parts machines simply can’t replace, we refined everything by hand. We carefully sharpened elements like the star and its edges to make them as crisp as possible.”

Tuấn said working on this piece, especially during the 80th National Day, gave him a deeply emotional feeling, a sense of pride in creating something meaningful that will reach the hands of customers, adding that they are proud to wear the nation's symbols.

“I find it quite interesting,” said customer Ngô Viết Quyết. “The piece is small and delicate, but it perfectly matches our taste and current jewellery trends.”

Hà said the workshop intended to launch a series of jewellery items featuring mythical figures such as unicorns, which often appear at temples.

"I see that young people really love cultural traditions and national identity,” Hà said. “As a designer, and coming from a family with over 40 years of experience in silver craftsmanship, I believe that as long as you combine design with love, everything will come naturally to young people. They will express their patriotism not only in their hearts but also through exquisite items."

Across the country, one can see that people are proudly displaying their patriotism through these subtle yet meaningful adornments. VNS
