HÀ NỘI — On June 22, the Prime Minister signed Decision No 1226/QĐ-TTg, officially recognising Hanoi for successfully completing its new-style rural development programme in 2024.
The Prime Minister assigned the Hanoi People’s Committee to publicly announce the recognition and reward relevant collectives and individuals in accordance with regulations. The city is also tasked with maintaining and further improving the quality of all criteria, with a focus on cultural and environmental aspects to ensure sustainable rural development.
The Government leader also delegated responsibility to the ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, heads of Government-affiliated agencies, members of the Central Steering Committee for the National Target Programmes for the 2021–2025 period, the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and related organiations and individuals to implement this Decision.
According to the Hanoi People’s Committee, from 2010 to the end of 2024, the capital mobilised over VNĐ183.7 trillion (US$7 billion) for its rural development efforts. Of this amount, more than VNĐ162.8 trillion ($6.2 billion) came from the State budget, with the remainder sourced through socialised capital. The city successfully met all 8 criteria specified in the Prime Minister’s Decision No 321/QĐ-TTg, which outlines the conditions for provinces and cities to be recognised as having completed the new-style rural development programme for the 2021–2025 period.
Notably, Hanoi ensured that no debt from basic infrastructure construction was incurred during the implementation of the programme. The city consistently took the initiative in formulating detailed annual plans and balancing resources to ensure the progress and quality of all set targets. — VNS
