BẮC GIANG — Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bắc Giang Province Nguyễn Việt Oanh has said that scientific and technological advancement is essential for the locality to make a breakthrough, adding that core leadership plays a critical role in driving digital transformation.
Speaking at a thematic conference titled Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), attended by over 600 key officials from departments and localities across the province, Oanh urged provincial leaders and department heads to swiftly study and adopt AI and new technologies into their daily work.
He said that in a streamlined system, Bắc Giang has been assigned the leading national growth target by the central government. To meet that challenge, the province must act quickly and decisively.
To build its AI capacity, the province will assign the Department of Home Affairs to coordinate with the provincial School of Politics to organise in-depth training programmes on AI.
Bắc Giang has also signed a cooperation agreement with FPT Corporation to advance scientific and technological development, with a strong focus on digital transformation.

Vice Chairman of the Board of FPT University Hoàng Nam Tiến speaks at the conference. |
At the event, Vice Chairman of the Board of FPT University Hoàng Nam Tiến shared insights into the rapid development of AI and its transformative potential. He highlighted how AI can boost productivity, reduce costs and manpower needs, and save time when applied to administrative management.
“AI is significantly reshaping the global employment landscape. Those who know how to use it will come out on top. The generation that masters AI will be the leaders of the digital era,” Tiến said.
He noted that governments worldwide are under pressure to respond to this “new game” of labour policy, which demands innovations in public governance and services and poses particular challenges for low-income nations.
Tiến said that leadership today requires a mindset shift to embrace science and technology and assert proactive roles in managing change.
AI will become indispensable, especially as Việt Nam accelerates administrative streamlining and agency consolidation, he added.
Illustrating the potential of AI in local governance, Tiến cited the model of provincial-level data systems.
Data on population, businesses, land and natural resources can now be compiled into intelligent reports via AI, significantly aiding post-merger management and streamlined administration, he explained. — VNS
