HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội People's Committee on Wednesday held the inauguration ceremony for Hà Nội Children's Hospital, one of the city's key projects commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Hà Nội (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024).
Located in Yên Nghĩa Ward, Hà Đông District, the hospital spans more than 19,000 square metres with a total investment of VNĐ654 billion (US$26.3 million). The facility includes essential components such as outpatient and clinical examination blocks, technical and support service areas, administrative sections and two hundred inpatient beds.
Deputy Director of the Hà Nội Urban Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board, Nguyễn Ngọc Tường, noted that the project which started construction on April 1, 2022, has been completed on time.
The hospital is now officially in operation. It is the first specialised children's hospital in Hà Nội, designed to provide high-quality medical services with advanced and specialised technology, meeting the healthcare needs of the population and reflecting Hà Nội’s natural and socio-economic conditions.
The completion and handover of the hospital ensure that it meets the required standards for construction and medical equipment, enabling Hà Nội Children's Hospital to fulfil its functions and reduce the burden on other hospitals in the capital.
At the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Hà Nội People's Committee Vũ Thu Hà emphasised that this is the city's first multi-disciplinary paediatric hospital, featuring 24 specialised departments.
She urged relevant authorities, including the city’s Department of Health, to coordinate with stakeholders to further enhance the hospital’s operations, by adding personnel and equipment and expanding the specialised medical services.
Additionally, she called for the hospital to adopt advanced global medical technologies and professionalise its management in line with high-quality standards.
The Department of Health was also tasked with reviewing the healthcare needs of residents and proposing the second phase of development to increase the hospital's capacity to 500 beds, positioning it as the leading paediatric hospital in Hà Nội.
During the ceremony, officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the hospital and presented gifts to underprivileged children suffering from severe illnesses who are already receiving treatment there. — VNS
