Bus accident in Gia Lai claims one life, 18 others injured

GIA LAI — A tragic accident on the Hồ Chí Minh Road in Chư Pưh District, Gia Lai Province, has resulted in one fatality and 18 injuries.

The accident occurred on August 17, involving a bus with 18 passengers on board and a motorcycle driven by R.L.H, a 41-year-old living in Ia Rong Commune, Chư Pưh District.

According to the authorities, the bus collided with the motorcycle while attempting to avoid it. The impact caused the bus to overturn, inflicting severe injuries on R.L.H., who tragically passed away on August 21 despite medical efforts.

The remaining 18 passengers sustained various injuries, with six suffering fractures and head trauma. Fortunately, all were discharged from the hospital on August 20.

Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle rider failed to yield while entering the main road, contributing to the accident. The bus driver was found to be sober and possess a valid licence. — VNS
