HCM CITY — An additional new free-of-charge rest stop for motorbike taxi drivers has been opened in Thủ Đức city, raising the number to four in HCM City.

The city Labour Federation on June 21 launched a new free-of-charge rest stop for members of the traditional motorbike taxi driver syndicate and ride-hailing drivers in the city.

The rest stop is located at No. 245 Nguyễn Duy Trinh Street Thủ Đức city.

Drivers will be supported with free-of-charge water, wifi service and battery plug connectors and offered a 35 per cent discount for changing motorbike oil.

For the occasion, the Centre for Social Affairs under the city Labour Union and the Labour Union of the HCM City University of Agriculture and Forestry presented two saving accounts totaling VNĐ50 million (US$1,965) each for drivers with severe diseases.

Some 50 drivers will have a chance to receive free oil for motorbikes.

The four rest stops are located in districts Bình Tân and 7, and Thủ Đức city

Three rest stops are for traditional and tech-based motorbike taxi drivers, while one gives priority to drivers of four-wheeled vehicles.

The city is home to about 11,000 members of the traditional motorbike taxi driver syndicate. — VNS
