Young Vietnamese show strong ability in science and technology: Deputy Minister

HÀ NỘI — Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Minh Vũ expressed his admiration, pride and confidence for the future after witnessing the capabilities of FPT Corporation in new technology fields such as AI, Cloud, Automotive, and data centres.

Vũ commended FPT as the leading technology corporation in the country, emphasising that the company's achievements in AI and Cloud technologies were all the result of research and development by young Vietnamese talent.

The deputy foreign minister made his comments during a working visit at FPT headquarter in Hà Nội on Wednesday. During the visit, Nguyễn Văn Khoa general director of FPT Corporation shared the company’s achievements in 2023, highlighting their focus on innovation and creativity in science and technology.

Khoa noted that over the past 35 years, FPT has made significant progress in bringing Vietnamese intelligence to the global stage. They have achieved US$1 billion in revenue from IT services for foreign markets, secured contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and expanded their presence to 30 countries worldwide. The corporation boasts a diverse workforce comprising more than 70 nationalities.

In the field of education, FPT's educational organisation, has established itself with 145,000 learners across its system. In addition, FPT has also developed regional-class telecommunications and data infrastructure in the telecommunications sector.

During the event, Khoa and other FPT representatives proposed various measures to further enhance Việt Nam's IT industry on a global scale. They suggested promoting economic diplomacy in technology to strengthen the brand image of Việt Nam's IT industry as a leading destination for digital transformation, AI, Big Data, Automotive, and Chip technologies.

They also expressed their hopes for increased educational cooperation programmes and the transfer of special training programmes in emerging technology fields such as AI and Semiconductor Chips. They also sought assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representative agencies abroad in removing challenges related to long-term work visa applications in key markets.

FPT has been now ranked among the top eight best IoT consultants in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has also achieved the milestone of $1 billion in revenue from IT services for foreign markets, making it the first Vietnamese technology enterprise to join the group of billion-dollar IT service businesses worldwide.

FPT has made significant progress in the technology value chain, with nearly 50 per cent of its total revenue from IT services for foreign markets derived from digital transformation services. Within this segment, Cloud technology accounts for 40 per cent of the revenue, while AI and data analysis contribute 12 per cent, and RPA and Lowcode make up 10 per cent.

The company also aims to reach the next milestone of $5 billion in revenue from IT services for foreign markets, with the goal of establishing Việt Nam as a new technology centre of the world.
