THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Thừa Thiên-Huế People’s Committee has approved an investment plan of the FPT Edu company – a member of software giant FPT Group – for the construction of the education complex at the new planned An Vân Dương urban area in Hương Trà Township with an investment of VNĐ432 billion (US$17.2 million).

The provincial office said the project is seen as a positive cooperation between the province and FPT, as the two sides had inked an agreement on digital transformation and ‘smart’ urban development by 2025.

It said the education project would be built and completed within 48 months after the land area clearance is handed over to the company.

The project would help the province become a favourite destination for education, health, tourism, and ‘green’ investment in central Việt Nam and ASEAN in the future.

FPT said the FPT Education Complex, proposed in 2021, aimed to provide educational services and systems for 10,000 students at high school and college levels by 2025.

Earlier, FPT had been cooperating with the province in the development of digital applications and digital transformation in e-government, digital economy, smart healthcare, and smart city.

A report from the province unveiled that the two partners fostered the already-launched Hue-S online application in community healthcare by setting up a ‘smart and cashless’ service in the city’s hospital system, while promoting an AI Chatbot and AI Voicebot for a more convenient health examination service, and introducing the shared-use Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in healthcare networks among hospitals and health centres in Huế's districts, and communes, and paperless hospitals.

Thừa Thiên-Huế was seen as the 22nd locality in Việt Nam to sign cooperation with FPT in digitalisation, ranked second out of 63 provinces in digital transformation with 900,000 users (70 per cent of the province’s population) using the Hue-S application since 2019.

FPT Group has been developing education systems from primary schools to university level in Hải Phòng, Bắc Ninh, Đà Nẵng, Cần Thơ, Bình Định, Hà Nội, and other cooperative projects with UK and Australian partners in Việt Nam. — VNS
