HẢI PHÒNG —Australia advanced to the final following a tightly contested match in which Việt Nam showed determination until the last minute. Midfielder Bích Thùy scored Việt Nam’s only goal late in the second half, offering hope for an equaliser before the final whistle. She was later named MSIG Player of the Match for her performance. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Bích Thùy admitted her disappointment but affirmed the team’s resolve. “We’re disappointed we couldn’t meet expectations, but we’ll regroup and fight for the bronze,” she said. The contest drew strong support from home fans, whose energy created an intense atmosphere at Lach Tray. Australian players praised the spirit of their opponents and the passion of the crowd. Forward Aideen Keane described reaching the final as a “surreal dream” while acknowledging Việt Nam’s resilience. Midfielder Leticia McKenna also spoke about the importance of family support and encouraged young girls to keep pursuing their football ambitions. The tournament, sponsored by MSIG, has been seen as an important platform to promote women’s football in the region. Against a physically stronger opponent, the Vietnamese players fought with grit and created opportunities, underlining their progress and potential for the future. The final day of the competition will be held on August 19. Việt Nam will face Thailand in the third-place playoff match at 4:30pm, while Australia will meet Myanmar in the final at 8pm.
