BẠC LIÊU — Authorities of the Mekong Delta province of Bạc Liêu on January 25 hosted a high-level delegation of the Cambodian province of Preah Sihanouk, who came for a well-wishing visit on the occasion of Vietnam's traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
Vice Chairman of the Bạc Liêu People's Committee Phan Thanh Duy took the occasion to congratulate the progress made by Preah Sihanouk so far.
He said this year marks the 10th anniversary of the two provinces’ twinning agreement and proposed organising an event to review the decade-long implementation of the agreement in the Cambodian province in April. A delegation from Bạc Lieu will visit and extend greetings to Preah Sihanouk on the occasion of Cambodia’s Chol Chnam Thmay festival, and organise the signing of a memorandum of friendly cooperation between the two sides for the next phase.
For his part, Kong Vitanak, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk, said that the Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation and traditional friendship are increasingly flourishing and that the twinned provinces have supported each other from wartime to peacetime.
The Cambodian official expressed his desire for an enduring and strengthened friendship between Bạc Liêu and of Preah Sihanouk. He also agreed with Bạc Liêu's proposal of organising the 10-year review event. — VNS
