Việt Nam records highest daily number of COVID-19 infections in six months

Việt Nam recorded 3,399 new COVID-19 cases on May 5, the highest daily number over the past six months, according to the Ministry of Health.

HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam recorded 3,399 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the highest daily number over the past six months, according to the Ministry of Health.

The new cases brought the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country since the pandemic broke out to 11,571,127.

The same day, 997 patients were given the all-clear from coronavirus, lifting the number of recoveries to 10,625,838.

Meanwhile, the death toll was still kept at 43,195, accounting for 0.4 per cent of the total number of infections, as no fatality was reported on the day.

As many as 15,550 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were injected to people on Thursday, raising the total number of administered doses to almost 266.27 million. – VNS
