HÀ NỘI — Two women have been arrested in connection with the death of a 17-month-old baby in an unlicensed kindergarten in Vạn Điểm Commune.

Nguyễn Thị An, 30, and Nguyễn Thị Lành, 31, were taken into custody by the police in Thường Tín District, Hà Nội on March 5, on suspicion of murder.

According to a source from the Hà Nội City Police, the women were arrested under an emergency decision to investigate the murder.

The two suspects, who have permanent residence in Phú Minh Town, Phú Xuyên, Hà Nội, have allegedly admitted to assaulting, beating and abusing the child, which led to his injuries.

The victim, a 17-month-old boy, was rushed to the hospital with brain trauma and died on February 23.

Thường Tín District police confirmed on March 4 that the two babysitters had been involved in the child's death. The unlicensed nursery had been operating in the Vạn Điểm Commune. — VNS
