TIỀN GIANG — Construction of Vàm Giồng Bridge in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Tiền Giang started on February 1.

The bridge, part of the Provincial Road No. 864 project running along the Tiền River, connects the districts of Chợ Gạo and Gò Công Tây in the province.

It has a total length of more than 100 metres and a surface width of 12 metres.

With a total investment cost of VNĐ56.6 billion (US$2.4 million), its construction is scheduled to be completed in 10 months.

The Provincial Road No. 864 project costing VNĐ3.3 trillion ($140.7 million) will be completed in 2027.

The project includes building a new 36km stretch of the road, and upgrading the current 74km-long section.

Phạm Văn Trọng, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the project was very important and urgent.

Besides enhancing inner-provincial traffic connectivity, it is expected to improve regional connectivity by linking the Trung Lương - Mỹ Thuận Expressway, and national highways No. 1A, 50 and 30. — VNS
