HÀ NỘI — Over the next decade, Việt Nam will focus on promoting innovation, circular development and commercialising research outcomes through science and technology development, and hopes for continued support and cooperation from the US, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bùi Thế Duy said.
Addressing the 11th meeting of the Việt Nam-US Joint Committee on Science-Technology Cooperation in Hà Nội on Friday, Duy highlighted the strong development of science and technology worldwide. Digital technology and artificial intelligence are growing strongly, serving the circular economy and sustainable development.
US Ambassador to Việt Nam Marc E Knapper said that the increasing cooperation between the two countries in science and technology would help promote prosperity and progress of both sides.
In 2023, he noted that the two sides would celebrate their strategic partnership, proposing that they can elevate their collaboration in science and technology to a new height based on their long-term cooperative relations.
At the event, participants discussed what science and technology areas should be prioritised, including fields with high cooperation potential, like R&D activities in artificial intelligence and capacity building for STEM education.
They also gave opinions on reports of four working groups in the fields of health and medical sciences, climate change, conservation and biotechnology in agriculture. — VNS
