HCM CITY — A series of scientific and artistic events with the theme of transforming for sustainability hosted by the University of Economics HCM City (UEH) will take place from December 4 to 11.
The programme called “Ready for Next 2022” is expected to attract the participation of many international universities and organisations, and experts from more than 15 countries.
Speaking at a press meeting held on Wednesday (November 30), principal of UEH Sử Đình Thành said transforming for sustainability is no longer merely a concern of UEH, but also a concern of the whole society.
“A sustainable society needs people who fully understand and act on sustainability,” he said.
As one of the key national universities, UEH is a pioneer in learning and researching to bring innovative solutions and multidisciplinary knowledge from around the world to Việt Nam, contributing to the country's transformation process towards sustainable development, he added.
Through the "Ready for Next 2022" programme, UEH wishes to promote its role as a centre for connecting multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge, connecting resources, spreading positive values and contributing to the sustainable development of the community.
Four international science conferences will be the highlight of the programme, with the participation of leading domestic and foreign scientists, experts and speakers in various fields.
The conferences are “Resilience by Technology and Design 2022” from December 8 to 11, “Sustainable University Development: Opportunity and Challenge” between December 7 and 10, “ArtTech Fusion 2022” (ATF) from December 4 to 11, and “A Future Resilience through a Smart City Lens” between December 7 and 11.
UEH will officially launch two new hubs that will connect schools with experts, businesses, and domestic and international management agencies to solve current social issues.
ArtTech Fusion Hub (ATFH) will focus on solutions to apply technology and the arts towards sustainability.
ATFH will have three main functions, including education and training, research and development, and networking.
It will be launched on December 4 at UEH’s Campus A at 59C on Nguyễn Đình Chiểu Street in District 3.
The International Forum on Sustainability (IFS) Hub will focus on sustainable development solutions for universities and small and medium-sized enterprises.
The launching of IFS will be held on December 8 at UEH’s Campus A.
Within the framework of the programme, six activities will inspire art and promote sustainable development through ArtTech.
There will be a classical music concert programme “New York Classical Music Society Asia” from December 8 to 9.
Between December 4 and 11, an art space “Voice from Ocean” will combine products made from waste with music.
The “Media Art - Beyond the Forest'' exhibition, co-organised by UEH and South Korea’s Ulsan Art Museum, will take place from December 4 to 11.
Between December 7 and 9, the exhibition “Inspiring Sustainability Initiatives” will feature products, projects and action programmes on sustainability in various fields.
A fashion show “The wow factor” will open on December 7.
UEH in collaboration with the HCM City Photography Association will organise a photo exhibition of the ArtCamp contest from December 4 to 11, spreading the message of maintaining a sustainable lifestyle in the digital age. — VNS
