ĐÀ NẴNG – To support locals in Đà Nẵng after the recent historic flood, some skilled automobile mechanics from Nông Sơn and Thăng Bình districts of Quảng Nam Province decided to set up free vehicle repair teams for those in need.

The campus of Cô Tiên Xanh Kindergarten in Đà Nẵng on October 16 was crowded with people who need to have their vehicles fixed.

Nguyễn Cường, a 17-year-old resident of Thăng Bình District, said that his rented house on Mẹ Suốt Street was flooded on the night of October 14 and his bike was damaged. He quickly took his bike to Cô Tiên Xanh Kindergarten to have it fixed.

“All vehicle repair shops refused to fix my bike because they were busy. Fortunately, there are skilled automobile mechanics here to help me fix it, otherwise I do not know how I am going to work tomorrow,” Cường said.

After more than half an hour, Cường’s motorbike started to run again, automobile mechanic Nguyễn Nho Hậu said, adding that he changed the oil, got rid of dirty gasoline in the tank and changed the air filter for the bike.

“We decided to form a team to help locals in Đà Nẵng who have been suffering from the heavy flood. A group of about 20 members were divided into two groups to timely support people. All vehicles have been repaired free of charge but owners will have to pay for replaced spare parts," Hậu said.

Hậu’s team took initiative in settling their travel and accommodation costs.

From noon on October 15 to noon on October 16, this team of workers from Nông Sơn District repaired hundreds of motorbikes.

In addition to the vehicle repair point at the University of Pedagogy, the team also set up a spot on 65 Đà Sơn Street in Đà Nẵng.
