Petrovietnam supports people affected by Typhoon Noru

Tens of thousands of people in the central provinces are struggling after the devastation left by the bad weather.

HÀ NỘI — The Trade Union, Youth Union, Veterans Association and Military Command of the Việt Nam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) on October 4 launched a campaign to support people in the central region affected by Typhoon Noru, the fourth storm to hit from the East Sea this year.

Hoàng Quốc Vượng, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Members of Petrovietnam, Lê Mạnh Hùng, General Director, Secretary of the Party Committee of Petrovietnam and leaders in the Board of Directors, Trade Union, Youth Union, Veterans Association of Petrovietnam joined the launching ceremony.

In the past few days, Typhoon Noru hit the central provinces, bringing heavy rains, flash floods and landslides and causing widespread property damage and flooding. Tens of thousands of people in the central provinces are struggling after the devastation left by the bad weather.

To help people overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives, the Trade Union, Youth Union, Veterans Association and Military Command Board of Petrovietnam have jointly organised donations to support affected people.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Lê Mạnh Hùng, General Director and Secretary of the Party Committee of the group, called for Petrovietnam’s spirit to help people in difficult situations. Furthermore, he urged all officers and employees to join hands to help people in the central region.

After only 15 minutes of launching, the group has collected nearly VNĐ84 million (US$3,480).

The group has collected VNĐ84 million donated by leaders, officers and employees of the group.

In the coming days, the group will continue to call for support in various forms, such as donating money and necessities to provide support to those in need. – VNS
