Việt Nam reports 18,474 COVID-19 cases on Saturday

Việt Nam confirmed 18,474 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, all locally transmitted, with Hà Nội leading the tally.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam confirmed 18,474 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, all locally transmitted, with Hà Nội continuing to lead the tally.

Saturday’s new transmissions decreased by 1,602 cases compared with Friday, bringing the total cases in the country to 10,417,887 since the start of the pandemic.

Hà Nội recorded 1,361 cases on Saturday, followed by Phú Thọ with 1,070.

Nearly 1,000 students in the capital in the three districts of Hà Đông, Phú Xuyên and Sóc Sơn have recently been vaccinated against COVID-19 as children aged 5-11.

They will receive the second injection 28 days later.

The northern coastal province of Quảng Ninh today registered an additional 4,880 COVID-19 infections on the national case management system, after reviewing information and testing.

1,191 COVID-19 patients are in serious or critical condition, with the majority requiring oxygen masks, 144 requiring invasive ventilation and three on life support.

Việt Nam reported an additional 10 COVID-related deaths on Saturday, raising the nation's death toll since the pandemic started last year to 42,934, accounting for 0.4 per cent of the total caseload.

68,330 COVID-19 patients made a full recovery on Saturday. The total number of recovered patients in Việt Nam has now reached 8,931,374.— VNS
