HÀ NỘI — The young victim of a ruthless assault in Hà Nôi's Thạch Thất District earlier this month is still in intensive care at Saint Paul General Hospital.
As reported earlier Đ.N.A, aged 3, was repeatedly assaulted by his mother's boyfriend, Nguyễn Trung Huyên.
Huyên confessed to trying to murder the child by tricking her into drinking pesticides and swallowing screws, and finally putting nine nails into her skull on January 17.
Huyên has been arrested and charged with attempted murder according to Rule 123 of the Criminal Code of Việt Nam.
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the National Fund for Vietnamese Children have donated VNĐ30 million (US$1,324) to fund the costs for the young girl's treatment.
Doctors diagnosed that the young girl had meningitis caused by infection, possibly caused by foreign objects found in her skull. — VNS
