16,715 new COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday

A total of 16,715 new COVID-19 infections were detected on Thursday, bringing the national caseload to 2,094,802.

HÀ NỘI – A total of 16,715 new COVID-19 infections were detected on Thursday, bringing the national caseload to 2,094,802.

Among the new cases, 78 were imported and the rest were local transmissions. A total of 11,796 new infections were detected in the community.

The capital city of Hà Nội continued to record the highest number of infections at 2,884, followed by Đà Nẵng at 983 and Hải Phòng at 722.

The other cases were found in Bến Tre (614), Khánh Hòa (579), Hưng Yên (565), Bình Định (521), Quảng Ngãi (513), Thanh Hóa (497), Bình Phước (462), Quảng Ninh (389), Bắc Giang (386), Bắc Ninh (373), Cà Mau (361), Trà Vinh (332), Quảng Nam (288), Thừa Thiên Huế (285), Nam Định (283), Hải Dương (280), Vĩnh Phúc (270), Vĩnh Long (269), Nghệ An (245), HCM City (245), Tây Ninh (239), Thái Nguyên (235), Lâm Đồng (231), Hòa Bình (218), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (154), Đắk Lắk (153), Tuyên Quang (153), Lạng Sơn (143), Gia Lai (143), Quảng Trị (142), Phú Thọ (139), Bình Thuận (138), Ninh Bình (138), Thái Bình (137), Bạc Liêu (135), Quảng Bình (132), Kon Tum (119), Yên Bái (103), Lào Cai (103), Phú Yên (101), Hà Giang (101), Hà Nam (98), Đắk Nông (98), Điện Biên (98), Sơn La (98), Hậu Giang (90), Đồng Tháp (80), Kiên Giang (77), Đồng Nai (65), Bình Dương (61), Hà Tĩnh (55), An Giang (51), Cần Thơ (47), Long An (38), Cao Bằng (38), Tiền Giang (37), Lai Châu (36), Sóc Trăng (33), Ninh Thuận (29) and Bắc Kạn (5).

Việt Nam has recorded 108 Omicron infections so far. 

A further 152 COVID-19 related deaths were also announced.

The fatalities were reported in HCM City (13), Đồng Tháp (12), Vĩnh Long (12), Kiên Giang (12), Sóc Trăng (9), Tiền Giang (9), Hậu Giang (9), Tây Ninh (6), An Giang (6), Bến Tre (6), Bình Dương (5), Long An (5), Cần Thơ (5), Bạc Liêu (5), Bình Phước (4), Đồng Nai (4), Hòa Bình (4), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (4), Bình Thuận (3), Bắc Ninh (3), Hà Giang (3), Bình Định (3), Khánh Hòa (2), Cà Mau (2), Điện Biên (1), Nghệ An (1), Đà Nẵng (1), Phú Yên (1), Đắk Lắk (1) and Lâm Đồng (1).

The 13 deaths recorded in HCM City include one case transferred from Long An Province and one other from Tiền Giang Province. 

Việt Nam’s COVID-19 death toll in Việt Nam is now 36,266, accounting for 1.7 per cent of total cases.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 4,591 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 647 requiring invasive ventilation and 20 on life support.

A further 5,736 patients were given the all-clear on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,794,924. — VNS

More than 172.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country to date, with nearly 78.8 million people receiving at least one shot. — VNS
