15,527 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Việt Nam on Wednesday, record 1,024 cases in capital

The capital city of Hà Nội confirmed a record 1,024 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

HÀ NỘI — The capital city of Hà Nội confirmed a record 1,024 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with a total of 15,527 new infections reported nationwide.

The country’s total number of transmissions now stands at 1,459,175.

Just five of the new infections were imported, with 9,940 transmissions detected in the community.

New cases were reported in 61 provinces and cities across the country.

HCM City led the list with 1,270 cases, followed by Cà Mau Province with 1,072 and Bến Tre with 1,035.

The other localities that reported new infections were: Tây Ninh (922), Đồng Tháp (732), Cần Thơ (720), Vĩnh Long (594), Khánh Hòa (593), Sóc Trăng (579), Bạc Liêu (505), Đồng Nai (464), Tiền Giang (411), Bình Dương (371), Trà Vinh (360), Kiên Giang (353), Hậu Giang (341), Thừa Thiên Huế (329), Bình Phước (316), Bắc Ninh (300), An Giang (294), Bình Thuận (266), Lâm Đồng (257), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (238), Đà Nẵng (236), Bình Định (190), Gia Lai (164), Phú Yên (135), Thanh Hóa (129), Hải Phòng (116), Quảng Nam (115), Nghệ An (113), Hưng Yên (96), Long An (82), Thái Bình (62), Quảng Ngãi (60), Hà Giang (53), Hòa Bình (52), Ninh Thuận (51), Đắk Lắk (51), Lạng Sơn (50), Quảng Ninh (49), Đắk Nông (49), Phú Thọ (41), Hải Dương (41), Nam Định (36), Vĩnh Phúc (33), Thái Nguyên (33), Quảng Bình (26), Kon Tum (23), Sơn La (23), Bắc Giang (16), Tuyên Quang (12), Hà Nam (11), Hà Tĩnh (9), Lào Cai (7), Điện Biên (4), Quảng Trị (3), Yên Bái (3), Bắc Kạn (1) and Lai Châu (1).

There were also a further 283 fatalities announced, including 74 in HCM City.

Việt Nam has now registered 28,616 deaths related to COVID-19, about 2 per cent of total patients.

A further 2,992 recoveries were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of patients given the all-clear to 1,063,428.

There are currently 7,822  patients with the virus in a serious condition in hospital, including 20 on life support.

Over 59 million people in Việt Nam have now been fully inoculated. VNS
