HCM CITY — The HCM City People’s Committee has set up 19 working groups to monitor the implementation of activities included in the city's COVID-19 pandemic response and socio-economic recovery plan.

The groups will work in all districts and Thủ Đức City from November 25 to 30.

The groups will evaluate the implementation process of targets set out in the plan, including protecting people’s health and life and mitigating the number of hospitalisations and deaths related to COVID-19.

Other work includes strengthening the public health system and gradual socio-economic revival in a safe, flexible and effective manner.

The expansion of activities in manufacturing and services sectors and maintenance of social services and protection are also a focus of the plan.

The working groups aim to enhance the responsibility of State agencies, social and political organisations and businesses about the COVID-19 response.

The first group led by Secretary of the Party Committee Nguyễn Văn Nên and the second group led by Chairman of the People’s Committee Phan Văn Mãi will work in Thủ Đức City and District 8, respectively.

Other city leaders and directors of departments will monitor the COVID-19 pandemic response and socio-economic recovery and development in the remaining districts.

COVID-19 response

The municipal People’s Committee on Tuesday issued an emergency document on the continuity of strict compliance with COVID-19 prevention and control measures amid a surge in new COVID cases.

Thủ Đức City and districts 12, Gò Vấp, Bình Tân, Bình Chánh and Hóc Môn reported a steady increase in new cases over the past few days.

The committee ordered districts to work out specific pandemic response plans. Quick tracing and testing are key to achieving a prompt and effective response, reducing risk levels and adapting to the pandemic in a safe and flexible manner.

Migrants coming to the city and local people with a high risk of infection are strictly monitored and are required to provide regular medical declarations. —VNS
