HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health announced 11,132 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the highest daily figure in over two months.
A further 167 deaths were recorded across the country.
Among the new cases, 6,010 were found in the community and six were imported. The total number of cases nationwide is now 1,143,967.
The new cases were found in HCM City (1,204), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (709), Bình Dương (698), Tây Ninh (600), Đồng Tháp (597), Đồng Nai (571), Bình Phước (509), Vĩnh Long (505), Bình Thuận (493), Bạc Liêu (474), Sóc Trăng (395), Cần Thơ (354), Kiên Giang (350), An Giang (320), Trà Vinh (295), Hà Nội (260), Cà Mau (252), Bến Tre (236), Hậu Giang (195), Khánh Hòa (172), Thừa Thiên Huế (160), Long An (145), Tiền Giang (112), Bình Định (111), Bắc Ninh (99), Quảng Nam (95), Nghệ An (92), Hà Giang (79), Đắk Lắk (75), Vĩnh Phúc (70), Đà Nẵng (65), Quảng Ngãi (65), Lâm Đồng (65), Ninh Thuận (57), Đắk Nông (56), Thanh Hóa (52), Phú Yên (51), Thái Bình (50), Quảng Bình (46), Gia Lai (45), Quảng Ninh (44), Nam Định (40), Hòa Bình (35), Hà Tĩnh (32), Tuyên Quang (28), Phú Thọ (27), Bắc Giang (24), Hà Nam (22), Hải Dương (19), Hưng Yên (16), Quảng Trị (15), Lạng Sơn (10), Cao Bằng (7), Ninh Bình (6), Kon Tum (6), Điện Biên (4), Lào Cai (4), Sơn La (3), Thái Nguyên (2), Hải Phòng (2) and Yên Bái (1).
The Department of Health in Bình Dương Province also added a further 28,000 cases that were not previously recorded on the national database.
Tuesday's deaths were in HCM City (62), An Giang (28), Bình Dương (12), Đồng Nai (11), Long An (9), Kiên Giang (7), Cần Thơ (7), Tây Ninh (6), Tiền Giang (5), Đồng Tháp (3), Vĩnh Long (3), Cà Mau (3), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (2), Bến Tre (2), Sóc Trăng (2), Quảng Ngãi (1), Trà Vinh (1), Lâm Đồng (1), Ninh Thuận (1) and Bạc Liêu (1).
The death toll in Việt Nam now stands at 24,118, or 2.1 per cent of the total number of infections.
Yên Bái and Bắc Kạn are the only two localities that have not reported any new infections in the past 14 days.
Across the country, 1,034 patients were announced as having recovered from COVID-19, increasing the national total recoveries to 911,310.
Over two million doses of vaccine were administered on Tuesday; almost 111 million jabs have now been delivered and 67.3 million people are fully inoculated. — VNS
