The Korean official pledged to further open its market to Việt Nam's key export products and their entry into the supply chains of the Asian nation, towards achieving the goal of lifting two-way trade to US$100 billion, even $150 billion in 2030.

The EU is Việt Nam's fourth largest trade partner, while Việt Nam is its biggest trade partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The EU is also the sixth largest investor in Việt Nam.

This visit, which is taking place when Việt Nam and the Netherlands are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1973-2023), is the third by the Dutch PM to Việt Nam since he took office in 2010, following PM Chính's visit to the Netherlands nine months ago.

PM Frederiksen affirmed Denmark will continue cooperation with Việt Nam in the field of green transition, and noted PM  Chính's recommendation on financial support, technology transfer, human resources training, and institution building.

ASEAN-Korea Day takes place amid positive developments in the cooperation between the two sides across all fields, as celebrations mark the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2024.

The trip takes place in the context that the two countries will celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024.

The diplomat highlighted the fact that PM Rutte is coming with a high tech mission comprising of representatives from about 40 companies, which is seen as the next step of the two countries’ cooperation.

The dialogue took place against the backdrop of Việt Nam and Indonesia celebrating 68 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of their strategic partnership.

The meeting pointed out that businesses were facing various challenges, such as difficulties in accessing capital, heavy tax burdens, and volatile prices.

Việt Nam wants to continue practical and effective cooperation with Russia across fields for mutual benefits of the two peoples, and for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
