BRUSSELS – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân and her entourage arrived in the capital city of Brussels, Belgium yesterday, beginning their working trip to the European Parliament (EP) at the invitation of President Antonio Tajani.
She was welcomed at the airport by Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Vũ Anh Quang, Chairman of the Belgium – Việt Nam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Georges Dallemagne, other Belgian officials and representatives of Vietnamese nationals living in the country.
Việt Nam and the European Union (EU) officially established their diplomatic ties on November 28, 1990. In 1996, the EU set up its representative mission in Hà Nội. Ties between the Vietnamese NA and the EP have kept growing, becoming an important pillar in the Việt Nam – EU comprehensive partnership.
Regular visits, dialogues and exchanges between parliamentarians at multilateral forums have made active contributions to friendship and cooperation between Việt Nam and the EU as well as their legislatures in particular. Both sides also established the Việt Nam – EU and the EU – Việt Nam friendship parliamentarians’ groups.
The visit aims to enhance ties between the Vietnamese legislature and parliaments of EU member states, and the EP, intensify relations between ASEAN and the EU, as well as debate bilateral, regional and global issues of shared concern.
NA Chairwoman Ngân met with Mayor of Toulouse city Jean-Luc Moudenc on Tuesday (local time) during her official visit to France before visiting Belgium.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân visited the aircraft manufacturing factory of Airbus in Toulouse yesterday (local time) as part of her official visit to France.
She also attended a launching ceremony for the new Toulouse office of FPT– Viet Nam’s biggest software producer.
The afternoon saw Chairwoman Ngân and the high-level Vietnamese NA delegation successfully conclude their official visit to France at the invitation of President of the National Assembly of France Richard Ferrand, moving on to their working trip to the European Parliament (EP) in Belgium at the invitation of President of the EP Antonio Tajani. — VNS
