DPRK Chairman arrives in Lạng Sơn

Chairman of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un arrived at the Đồng Đăng Railway Station in the northern border province of Lạng Sơn in the morning of February 26 for an official friendship visit to Việt Nam and attending the second summit with US President Donald Trump which is planned to take place in Hanoi on February 27-28.

LẠNG SƠN — Chairman of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un has arrived in Việt Nam.

Chairman Kim’s train pulled into Đồng Đăng Railway Station in the northern border province of Lạng Sơn at 8.13am on the morning of February 26.

He is here for an official friendship visit and to attend the second summit with US President Donald Trump which is planned to take place in Hà Nội on February 27-28.

Greeting Chairman Kim at the station were Việt Nam’s head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity and Education Võ Văn Thưởng, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tiến Dũng, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lê Hoài Trung, Vice Chairman of the President’s Office Chu Văn Yêm, Việt Nam’s Ambassador to DPRK Lê Bá Vinh and leaders of Lạng Sơn Province.

Despite the cold weather and rain, thousands of locals gathered along the roads around the station with flags and flowers to meet the distinguished guest.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) had previously reported that the train carrying the DPRK Chairman left Pyongyang on February 23 afternoon. He has been accompanied by senior DPRK officials, including his younger sister Kim Yo Jong, alternate member of the Political Bureau and Deputy Director of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee’s Propaganda and Agitation Department, and Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee Kim Yong Chol.
