HÀ NỘI – Member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen Phạm Hoài Nam hosted a reception in Hà Nội on September 27 for President of the National Defence Academy of Japan Kubo Fumiaki.

Nam highlighted the major strides in defence cooperation between the two nations, noting regular visits by leaders from the two countries' defence ministries, armies and national defence forces, as well as engagements at multilateral forums.

He underlined practical results in personnel training, cybersecurity, and post-war recovery efforts among armed forces, with education and training being a standout area of collaboration.

Expressing gratitude to the Japanese Ministry of Defence for providing annual scholarships to the Vietnamese counterpart at the National Defence Academy, Nam said Vietnamese trainees who return home after their study in Japan have successfully applied their knowledge, effectively fulfilling their duties and becoming a bridge to foster the friendly cooperation between Việt Nam Japan.

As the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence has a growing demand for undergraduate and postgraduate training, particularly in high-tech fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, short-term training and research, Nam urged Kubo Fumiaki to pay attention to these areas.

The Vietnamese ministry consistently supports and facilitates increased exchanges and training collaboration between the military academies and schools of both countries in the future, he affirmed.

The Japanese guest briefed his host on the outcomes of his delegation's meeting with the Military Technical Academy, stressing that both sides agreed to submit a report to their superiors regarding future cooperation.

This includes continuing to promote the training of Vietnamese students at the National Defence Academy of Japan. VNS
