Australian golfer wins VJO golf tournament 2018

Australian golfer Caleb Jye Perry won the Việt Nam Junior Open (VJO) 2018 on Tuesday after fending off defending Japanese champion Hanako Kawasaki in the final round at The Bluffs Hồ Tràm Strip in the southern province of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu.

HÀ NỘI — Australian golfer Caleb Jye Perry won the Việt Nam Junior Open (VJO) 2018 on Tuesday after fending off defending Japanese champion Hanako Kawasaki in the final round at The Bluffs Hồ Tràm Strip in the southern province of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu.

Perry was two under for the round after nine holes, while Kawasaki suffered a bogey and a triple bogey at the ninth to leave him on eight over and four shots adrift were 4 drives.

On the back nine, Perry hit three birdies to finish on six over and claim the title.

He was followed by Hanako on eight over. She was also ranked top of VJO chart for U21 women, followed by Nguyễn Thảo My (+13 point).

In men’s category chart, Nguyễn Vũ Quốc Anh got +17 point, ranked fourth, while Nguyễn Hùng Dũng got +19 point, ranked top of U21 chart, and Nguyễn Nhất Long swung 72 drives, ranked sixth and became runner-up of U16 men chart, followed by Trần Lam.

After the tournament, 5 golfers included Kawasaki, My, Anh, Dũng and Long were selected to compete at the next Faldo Series Asia 2019. — VNS
