HÀ NỘI — A series of new works entitled The Age After Divinity by Hà Nội-born surrealist Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, whose playful, irony-laden work has been turning heads in the contemporary art scene of Việt Nam, will be showcased at Manzi Art Space from tomorrow, June 6.

Depicting activities and events of daily life in an absurd world, this series of oil and water colour paintings presents immersive environments with droll juxtapositions that allude to cultural realities, social conflicts, the complexities of civic development and individual responsibility in Việt Nam today.

Focusing on the visual relationships of disjointed elements and unusual scales, with this series, Hùng has conveyed his sense of humour and brought audiences to a world in which everything is made bare through his biting irony.

The Age After Divinity will be launched at 6pm tomorrow and will be on display till August 6. Free entry. VNS
