UAE's Strata Manufacturing partners with DHL Global Forwarding to bolster aerospace supply chain

  • The five-yearagreement will see DHL Global Forwarding manage end-to-end shipment processesfor Strata Manufacturing's aero-structures, including onsite warehousemanagement and supply chain automation

ABU DHABI, UAE  - Media OutReach - Dec20, 2018 - DHL GlobalForwarding, the leading international provider of air, sea and road freightservices, has been selected by Strata Manufacturing, the advanced compositeaero structures manufacturing company wholly-owned by Mubadala InvestmentCompany PJSC, to provide Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) services spanning itsentire supply chain.

The five-year agreement aims to minimize Strata Manufacturing's shipmenttimes along its global supply chains, with DHL Global Forwarding takingresponsibility for all warehousing, freight and customs clearance ofaero-structures produced at Strata Manufacturing's facility in the Nibras AlAin Aerospace Park -- the multi-faceted development that supports theestablishment of a sustainable aerospace industry in the Emirates with a visionto become a global benchmark in the aerospace industry.

 

The partnership will see DHL Global Forwarding set up a 2,500-square-meterwarehouse in Abu Dhabi for storage and consolidation of all Strata shipments,equipped with high-volume racking, as well as fully-managed kitting, packing anddispatch process to support the company's growing capacity requirements.

The fully-managed supply chain will support both time-critical "aircrafton ground" needs -- where planes require immediate support with replacementcomponents -- as well as consolidated outbound shipments to Strata's overseascustomers; Airbus and Boeing, which are two of the largest aircraftmanufacturers in the world.

Under the agreement, DHL Global Forwarding will also provide end-to-endcontrol tower services spanning the movement of shipments, from manufacturingfacilities in Al Ain to storage in the new Abu Dhabi warehouse and DHL's Europeanwarehouses, which serve as global hubs for overseas distribution. At eachstage, DHL's customs clearance personnel will work with Strata Manufacturing toensure the seamless flow of goods both into and out of the country. DHL Global Forwardingwill also automate a significant part of the 4PL process, including deploymentsof integrated management platforms for warehousing, ordering and transport; aswell as employing lean methodologies to reduce manufacturing, packing andtransit times.
