HCM Television produces drama programme on the battle against COVID-19

The HCM City Television has worked with its partners to produce a new TV drama programme about Vietnamese people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

HCM CITY—The HCM City Television has worked with its partners to produce a new TV drama programme about Vietnamese people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The programme will feature one and two-act plays with famous theatre performers in drama, cải lương (reformed opera) and tuồng (classical drama). 

The plays will be broadcast daily. 

They include information about facts about COVID-19 and healthcare tips. 

In the shows, the actors encourage people to wash their hands, wear face masks, and report about their health. 

They also ask people to stop reporting fake news, stockpiling or hoarding goods, and gathering in public places.

The first show, titled Đi Câu Cá (Fishing), portrays HCM City people and their daily life during the lockdown under Government Directive 16 starting July 9. 

The challenges, patience and perseverance of city people are also highlighted. 

The five-minute play features comedians Hoàng Duẩn and Linh Trung. 

“We want to call for people to be together with the health sector to win the war against the pandemic," said the show’s producer Minh Hải. 

“We hope our programme transfers its message of solidarity to individuals in Việt Nam, and sends our appreciation and gratitude to doctors, nurses, medical workers, soldiers and police.”

According to Hải, all five-minute shows from the new drama programme will be staged in a truly southern style combining comedy and reality. 

The first show Đi Câu Cá aired at 9pm on last Sunday on HTV9 channel. It will also air on provincial stations of Long An, Tiền Giang and Bình Phước. VNS
