HÀ NỘI — Young singers Hoàng Thùy Linh and Sơn Tùng M-TP are leading the way with the most nominations for the 15th Music Devotion Awards.

The awards are held annually to honour producers and artists. There are nine categories: producer of the year, song of the year, best music video, best album, best show, best musician, best singer, best music programme and best new artist.

"There are many young artists nominated this year," said Lê Xuân Thành, head of the organising board. "Hoàng Thùy Linh and Sơn Tùng M-TP stand out with the most nominations, each receiving four."

Both of them have been nominated for best music video, song of the year and best singer.

Linh's album Hoàng has earned her a nomination for best album, thanks to songs inspired by Vietnamese literary works and idioms. It is varied, profound and vibrant.

Linh was also nominated for best music video in 2017.

Tùng is a strong contender for best show for Sky Tour, which took him from Hà Nội to HCM City Tùng.

Tùng won best singer in 2016 and was nominated for best music video in 2018 & 2019.

For the first time, Trần Mạnh Hùng will be hosting the awards. He is also nominated for best producer. Last year, directed concerts for Tân Nhàn, Phạm Thùy Dung and Vĩnh Cát.

Hùng also picked up the Việt Nam Musicians' Association Award for best film score at the Việt Nam National Film Festival.

He will be up against DTAP who are appearing for the first time this year.

The three-member group worked on Hoàng and music video Để Mỵ Nói Cho Mà Nghe (Let Me Say), which were both hits.

The awards will also feature ĐạtG - DuUyên in the best music video category, and Phạm Thùy Dung in the best singer and best show categories.

The new artist category is always much-anticipated, and has five nominations this year.

Amee is one young artist to emerge last year with a string of hits. Her writer composer LyLy has also been nominated in the same category.

The board announced the official nominations in Thể Thao Văn Hóa (Sport & Culture) newspaper on Wednesday.

This year, the press conference to announce the nominations was not held due to the coronavirus epidemic. The announcement was sent to newspaper and magazine reporters via email.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 22 in HCM City. — VNS
