HÀ NỘI — Everyone is invited to join a workshop on DIY zine publication, organised by the Vincom Centre for Contemporary Art (VCCA) and the cultural space QUA. on Sunday.
A self-published booklet of text and images, zines typically are produced in small circulation.
Zines originated in the US in the 1930s when fans of science fiction began to publish their own stories.
The term "fanzine" became recognised as the short form of "fan magazine" and later on was shortened to "zine".
At the workshop, attendees will learn everything about zines – their history and how they have developed in Việt Nam in recent years. Curator Bex Hughes from QUA. will also introduce the basic tools to create a zine.
The free workshop, for people over 13 years old, will take place from 10am to 12am at VCCA. VCCA is at B1-R3, Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, 72A Nguyễn Trãi Road, Thanh Xuân District.
