HÀ NỘI Following two successful classes on lotus tea making last week, the tea room Ơ Kìa Hà Nội (literally meaning Hà Nội A Long Time Ago) will continue to host two other classes this weekend.

According to the organiser, the class is a very leisurely and relaxing way to spend a morning, helping to boost positive energy which is only available during the lotus season.    

Participants will learn how to select the best flowers and how to distinguish the different kinds of tea. They will be shown how to wrap the lotus with tea inside before they can practise by themselves to scent the tea with lotus.    

While waiting for the tea to absorb the lotus scent, attendees can enjoy the green ambience of the tea room.

A tea indulgence with traditional sweet items such as mứt sen, bánh khảo, bánh chả, chè lam will perfect the section. Hà Nội’s famous dessert chè sen (lotus sweet dessert) will also be served.

Class members will also have the chance to meet and talk with the tea room’s owner – the international-awarded filmmaker Nguyễn Hoàng Điệp – during the class.

Anyone who wishes to stay longer for a lotus-themed lunch should inform the organiser in advance.
