HCM CITY A music video (MV) by Vietnamese pop idol Sơn Tùng M-TP and American rapper Snoop Dogg has attracted more than 13.9 million views only 15 hours after its release on YouTube.

The MV, Hãy Trao Cho Anh (Give It to Me), is a production between the singer who composed the Latin and hip-hop song and producer Onionn, who worked on mixing.

Snoop Dogg appears for 30 seconds in the MV.

Hãy Trao Cho Anh reached a new record in Việt Nam after attracting one million views on YouTube, eight minutes after its release on July 1.

The work broke the record which was set by the singer after his previous album, Chạy Ngay Đi (Run Now), attracted one million fans only 18 minutes after its release last year.

Hãy Trao Cho Anh was listed as the top trending YouTube MV in Asia, seventh in the US, and 14th worldwide on July 1.

In the MV, Sơn Tùng M-TP performs with supermodel Madison Beer.

The scenes were shot in Los Angeles by Korean producer August Grogs who has worked with music stars such as Tae Yeon of South Korea and Jay Park of the US.

Born in 1994 in Thái Bình Province, Sơn Tùng MT-P began his professional career in HCM City in 2011.

He quickly became a breakout star in the industry. His major hits, including Em Của Ngày Hôm Qua (You Come from Yesterday), n Mưa Ngang Qua (The Rain) and Không Phải Va Đâu (Nothing Common), are still hits today.

In 2015, he failed to win the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) Best Worldwide Act 2015, but he defeated six competitors in Southeast Asia to become the regional representative at the awards.

Speaking to media, Tùng, 23, said: “My music is for my fans who have supported my career since I was just a rural boy who loved singing and composing.”

He won the award for Young Promising Actor for his first role, a leading part, in the film Chàng Trai Năm y (Dandelion), a musical produced by Wepro Entertainment, at the Golden Kite 2015 Awards competition presented by the Việt Nam Cinematography Association.

Tùng’s songs are a mix of Vietnamese folk music and K-pop.

In 2017, he won the SBS Pop Asia 2017’s Best Solo Release presented by SBS PopAsia, an Australian music radio programme that broadcasts 24/7 Asian pop hits online and on radio.

At the event, he was Việt Nam's representative to compete against G-Dragon of Big Bang and Taeyeon, both from South Korea.

The pop star brought home the prize thanks to his MV, Nơi Này Có Anh (I’m Here), released in February, which attracted more than 100 million views on YouTube 59 days after its release.

His MV, Nơi Này Có Anh (You’re Waiting Here), released on Valentine’s Day, attracted over 100 million views two months after its release on YouTube, making the singer the year’s most popular artist in the country. VNS
