HCM CITY — South Korean all-male pop band Super Junior will perform in a South Korea - Việt Nam exchange concert in HCM City on March 29.

The eight-member band will perform songs from their latest extended play One More Time released last October.

The concert will also feature Korean singer Chungha, who debuted as a member of the disbanded girl group I.O.I. in 2016.

The 23-year-old singer began her solo career in 2018, but only rose to fame this year after releasing single Gotta Go in January. For the song, she won the top trophy on the MBC Music Show Champion, a Korean TV show that introduces new songs on MBC television station.

Chungha and Super Junior will share the stage with Vietnamese pop stars Vũ Cát Tường, Thanh Duy and Anh Tú.

Debuting in 2005, Super Junior includes 13 male singers formed by one of South Korea’s biggest entertainment companies, SM Entertainment.

Their fame in South Korea and Asia rose with songs Miracle and Happiness. They won five of South Korea’s top music award ceremonies as Best New Group of 2006 with their single U.

In 2009, the group released its third album Sorry, Sorry which sold over 29,000 copies on the first day, and became South Korea’s best-selling album of 2009 after only a month of release and a best-selling Korean-language album in Taiwan, Thailand, mainland China, and the Philippines.

The album collected a total of 10 awards with consecutive wins in South Korea, having the single becoming a national and international success.

The group has released seven Korean albums and one Japanese album, and staged  numerous tours across Asia and the world. Popular hits include Sorry Sorry, Bonamana, Mr. Simple and Black Suit.

Last September, Super Junior was invited to perform at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

As of October 2018, the band has eight active members.

The band is now on their seventh international tour called Super Show 7 to big cities in Asia and Latin America. The tour includes 19 concerts from December 2017 to March this year.
