A Christmas atmosphere has spread across Hà Nội’s downtown streets.
As usual, Hàng Mã Street is full of souvernirs, toys and decorations for the festive season. Christmas trees, laurel wreaths, Santa Claus outfits, snowmen and reindeers are available in various materials and sizes.
Commercial centres and offices have been decked up for the season, while cathedrals are drawing the largest crowds.
Though Catholic believers account for only 8 per cent of the whole population, Christmas has become a festive opportunity for almost everyone, especially the youth in big cities. — VNS
