HÀ NỘI — The second runner-up of Vietnam Top Fashion Models 2018, Chi Nguyễn, represents Việt Nam at the Miss Asia World contest, held from June 9-29 in Beirut, Lebanon.

Chi Nguyễn, whose full name is Nguyễn Thị Chi, was born in the southern province of Vĩnh Long. The 28-year-old model is 1.72m tall and weighs 48kg, with a body measurement of 86-58-90cm. She was also the first runner-up at the 2017 Charming Áo Dài contest.

Chi was selected for the international beauty pageant for her dynamism and professional performance.

She said she would join all the activities and marginal contests at the pageant, including traditional costume, talent show, photo shoot and interview. She will be the first Vietnamese candidate to perform magic tricks in the talent round of an international beauty contest.

Miss Asia World has been organised since 2016 with the participation of contestants from Asia, the Middle East and Europe. This year’s event will see 40 beauties competing for the title. The contest aims to provide the contestants with further insights into the diversified culture of Asia. Representatives from Thailand and Nepal were crowned at the previous pageants. 

Meanwhile, applications are open for the contest to select the Vietnamese candidate to represent the country at the upcoming 10th Miss Supranational.

Applicants must be Vietnamese nationals aged 18-25. They must be at least 1.65m tall and fluent in spoken English. The deadline for applications is July 20.

The final of Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018 contest will take place at the Sheraton Walker Hill in Seoul, South Korea, in August. The contest will be aired live on Korea’s KBS World Channel as well as on more than 50 international channels across the country.

The winner will be awarded US$50,000 and will represent Việt Nam at the Miss Supranational, scheduled to take place in Poland in December this year. — VNS
