HÀ NỘI — A music and dance performance will take place on May 18 in Hà Nội to celebrate the 128th birthday of late President Hồ Chí Minh.

With the theme “A Gift of May”, the performance comprises songs and dances dedicated to President Hồ. They acts will comprise of famous pieces composed by notable musicians such as Văn Cao, Thuận Yến, and foreign composers such as Ewan McColl.

Chu Thu Hằng, head of the organising board, said the concert will gather famous artists such as People’s Artist Thái Bảo and Excellent Artist Quốc Hưng who are known for writing songs about Uncle Hồ.

The performance is intended to solemnly reflect the great life and career of President Hồ through the beautiful language of music, she said.

Thái Bảo said she has great respect to Uncle Hồ and always feels emotional when performing songs dedicated to him.

“I was born in the central province of Nghệ An, the same homeland of the President, my father worked as the director of Kim Liên Museum, where his life and career are featured, so naturally I was raised to have a profound respect for him,” she said.

Songs of President Hồ made Bảo famous. She has performed these songs throughout the country as well as abroad for Vietnamese living overseas.

She will perform at the show with the intention of sharing her love and respect for President Hồ with the audience.
