HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội’s Tây Hồ District authorities have approved a project to build a lotus tea promotional centre.
The centre will be located near the 4-hectare Thủy Sứ lake in Quảng An ward of Tây Hồ District near West Lake, which is home to many well-known lotus ponds. It is expected to be built at the end of this year.
Nguyễn Đình Khuyến, deputy chairman of Tây Hồ’s People Committee, said Quảng An has been known for centuries for making lotus tea. The centre can help visitors further discover how lotus tea is made and drunk, and attract more Vietnamese and foreign tourists to the region’s lotus lakes which are known for their unique fragrance.
The centre is expected to attract many tourists as it is close to many of Hà Nội’s famous historical sites such as Tảo Sách Pagoda, Tây Hồ Temple, Trấn Quốc Pagoda and Quán Thánh Temple.
Traditional art performances including Quan họ (love duet singing) and puppetry will be held at the centre during lotus season in summer. — VNS
