ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city of Đà Nẵng, in co-operation with Daegu City, South Korea will build a book park for the community in Hòa Cường in Hải Châu district next month.

The park, which combines a café, reading space and rest-stop for locals and tourists, will be the first free book reading centre in the downtown community.

The park, being built with US$45,000 ($30,000) donated by Daegu, is the first co-operative project between the two cities this year.

Daegu has also agreed to help build an integrated management centre on green and smart urban management in Đà Nẵng.

A new direct flight connecting Đà Nẵng and Daegu was opened in September.

Last year, the city also launched the first green book park in Sơn Trà district with funds from the Korean International Co-operation Agency (KOICA).

The first reading space, the Green & Brown Bookstore, comprising a library, a bookstore and a coffee shop, was opened on Trần Cao Vân Street in 2015, and a new municipal library building was launched on Bạch Đằng Street.

Changwon City, South Korea also presented 11,000 Korean language teaching books to the city’s library and foreign language college last month.
